At the 2010 Teva Mountain Games, the Eddie Bauer First Ascent team saw world-class athletes compete in a variety of outdoor sports, including kayaking, bouldering, mountain biking and SUP. Showcasing their untamable spirit of adventure, the team also got into the action by sailing across the river on the Eddie Bauer zipline, hosting mountaineering classes and getting down and dirty in the mud run. See photos at our Teva Mountain Games Facebook album. We look forward to seeing you at the games again next year!

The spirit of adventure was alive and well in Telluride, Colorado over Memorial Day weekend. The Mountainfilm documentary film festival brought together a couple thousand people to watch films, discuss causes, and enjoy some amazing spring weather in a spectacular setting. The Eddie Bauer/First Ascent Airstream was a tremendous draw as it greeted people in the middle of the action on Main Street. The First Ascent adventurers and expedition kayakers also experienced an enthusiastic response at the premiere of their new movie, Hotel Charley V.5: First Descent, as a standing-room-only crowd assembled to watch it at the Elks Lodge in Telluride.
Stay tuned to Born Out There and our First Ascent Facebook page and Twitter as we make our way to Vail, Colorado, for the Teva Mountain Games this coming weekend!
RMI has just reported that Leif Whittaker, Dave Hahn and team are presently at the Balcony where they are changing oxygen bottles under calm winds and clear skies. We’ll keep you updated as we receive more information throughout the evening.
Eddie Bauer/ First Ascent has partnered with Mountainfilm in Telluride again this year to celebrate the untamable spirit of adventure and raise awareness about issues that might threaten our planet. The May 28-31 event also includes a gallery walk, filmmaker Q&A sessions and book signings. The special focus for this year’s film programming is The Extinction Crisis Read More…

The tip tap of snow falling hard on the tent kept me awake for most of the night. Yesterday was a storm day, with snow falling so hard and wind blowing enough to keep most teams off the steep terrain of the Lhotse Face. It is 4:30 a.m. I hear Childum, our cook, starting the stoves. I peek out of the tent to see that the snow is only lightly falling and there is a glowing light on the horizon. Today we will try to get to Camp III at 24,000 feet Read More…
