Ed,
I believe Jim Whittaker made the best comment about you in your book “No Shortcuts To The Top,”…”You are an animal!” You are a superhero. Keep going!! You are a great role model on how to keep cool in extreme conditions. Love the looks of the First Ascent ball cap, can’t wait to own one. Climb safe!
Kudos for yet another carefully laid-out, well-planned summit assault. Whether the Mountain allows you to conquer her once more or not, you are such an inspiration to us all – novice climbers and weekend warriors alike. Hiking in the NH Whites, or NY ‘Dacks, people in my group always hear about you and your philosophy of climbing.
Best of luck, and continue inspiring us all. Going up is optional; coming down is mandatory.
Hey Ed, you make it sound too easy – - we know it’s not !!! But thanks for the precise matter of fact briefings showing how you try to eliminate all but the objective risks and variables.
Hi Ed:
Will we see some pictures from Camp 4? Its just so exciting seeing all the great footage each day and hearing the interviews. Good luck to everyone and stay safe, don’t take any unessasary risks.
I was in Banff yesterday and I thought about you guys alot, its really amazing how high you people acually are in the Himalayas.

Hope you get the good weather needed for making the summit. And keep the great reports coming, it makes it feel almost like being there with you although I sit at sea level in Southern Finland Take care!
Ed, you are my hero. I’ve got cancer and I’m busy with chemo at the moment. Following your progress each day has inspired me and kept me going. Thanks for the inspiration. Good luck and God Bless for your final push to the summit. Best wishes from your fans here in South Africa.
Ed,
Good luck to you and your entire team. Remember your moto “getting to the top is optional, but getting down is mandatory”. Did you bring the Colbert flag with you? It seems like the first ascent gear is working out, the top will be the big test.
Jake – My gang at work is following the expedition and your work on the sides of the mountain. We have one word for your summit photo: tissue. Enjoy the journey, best of health, and safe climbing to all.
